Junior Indoor Hockey Teams 2018/19 Season

Pine Hills Hockey Club

Player registration is now open for the Pine Hills teams to play in the 2018/19 Brisbane Hockey junior indoor season. Click the "Register" button at the bottom of the page to begin.

We would encourage all eligible juniors to consider playing the indoor season. From past experience, juniors who play indoor hockey return to outdoor hockey the following season as much improved players, particularly those who have not been playing for long.

What is Indoor Hockey?
Indoor Hockey is similar to outdoor (field) hockey, however there are some key differences:
- smaller playing court with sideboards, so the ball remains in play for longer
- reduced number of players on court - 6 a side including goalkeeper, so players are constantly involved
- no hitting or slapping the ball; no raising the ball off the floor except to shoot; no tackling from behind
- junior games are 18 minute halves - while this may seem short, games are high intensity and faster than outdoor

Season information
Open to boys & girls who are age 7 to 16 as at 1st October 2018. New players are most welcome.

All games are played at Kedron State High School sports hall.

Games for lower divisions (younger/inexperienced players - generally ages 8-13) are played on Sunday mornings.

The higher/older divisions (roughly J age) may be played on Saturday afternoons or Sunday afternoons, depending on the division they are graded into.

Once our teams are graded into a division, their game time will be the same each week.

We hope to organise a couple of training sessions before the first game to allow teams to gain an understanding of the rules and skills required for indoor hockey - more details tba.

There is no additional training commitment during the season - just the games on the Sundays.

Competition details
Teams play 12 games plus finals. Games run from weekend of 6/7 October through to weekend of 15/16 December, break over Christmas, then 19/20 January through to 3 March.

Junior divisions are primarily graded on ability & experience, not age and we will grade our players accordingly (teams may be mixed boys/girls). In general there are 14 divisions with 5 teams in each division, with four teams going through to the finals for each division.
