Covid-19 UPDATE - Hockey Training and Games Suspended

All GAMES and TRAINING are suspended. (nb  hockey is not cancelled just suspended for now)

Pine Hills advises that in the interest of all players, families and the community that all training will be suspended for now.  Below is a message from BHA and BWHA regarding the suspension of all games until after Easter.  Like the associations we will assess the situation over the coming weeks and will hopefully be back to training before too long.
If you have any concerns or question please contact your relevant coordinator  or a committee member.   We will keep you updated as decisions are made.  Contact details can be found under the About Us tab on our website.

All current members have been sent an email with information from BHA and BWHA.

Joint Statement from BWHA and BHA

URGENT COMMUNICATION TO ALL BWHA CLUBS AND OUR HOCKEY COMMUNITY, BELOW IS A JOINT STATEMENT FROM BWHA & BHA AND IT SHOULD BE DISTRIBUTED TO ALL MEMBERS OF YOUR CLUB.

Dear All,

BWHA and BHA have been closely monitoring the current health situation and the various advices from Government, Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland. Sport is an important part of people’s social interaction and contributes to both their physical and mental wellbeing.

We appreciate the concern within the community about minimising the spread of the virus and the advices about social distancing. There is no suggestion that any of our players are at any greater risk from having participated than any other member of the community. Whilst the Government advice continues to support the continuation of community sport where possible we have taken the difficult decision to suspend fixtures from now until after Easter to see what unfolds. We appreciate that views differ in this space but we have taken a conservative approach.

This is a suspension and not a cancellation. The reduction of the various representative commitments by Hockey Australia and Hockey Queensland will give us some flexibility around how our season unfolds and we have the ability to run the season later into the year if required. At this stage we hope to be in a position to resume the season at the start of May and will review our position mid-April.

The two Associations will continue to work together to achieve the best outcomes we can for our member Clubs, their players and for our sport. We will closely monitor the unfolding health situation and are mindful of the financial impact on the Associations, the Clubs and their players .

Regards
Karin Walduck and Todd Fuller
